Wild in the Community
Creativity Conservation and Citizenship
Creativity, conservation and citizenship are constant themes running through all Wild in Art’s activities. Whether in our events or community and education work the “3 Cs” are fundamental as they help spread a positive message of conservation through inventive delivery and sustainable partnerships.
Wild in Art works with specialised arts groups such as Manchester’s Spearfish Ltd. Spearfish are an arts collective that have not only produced urban street festivals celebrating European culture in Britain and Ireland but also work at a local level from their Manchester base with a range of excluded and hard to reach communities.
The expertise that Spearfish have developed works alongside Wild in Art in the design of the canvasses and the delivery of the projects that decorate them.

Graffiti artists from Manchester enjoyed the challenge of the 3d canvas to create a hippo in camouflage and a cross gender penguin.
In the summer of 2007, SHISHA - the UK’s premier international agency for contemporary South Asian crafts and visual arts commissioned Spearfish as part of Manchester’s International Festival. Sumit Sarkar – a Manchester based visual artist worked on one of Wild in Art’s elephants in a celebration of Asian art.
