Go Penguins… Going Once, Going Twice….
14th January 2010 After the huge success of Go Penguins, Merseyside’s newest and most-loved art sensations will take a starring role at a charity auction at St George’s Hall on 4 February.
Approximately 70 Penguins will go under the hammer, with money raised giving the Liverpool Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal, WWF, Liverpool Unites and ME Research UK a significant boost to help them continue their invaluable work.
The hunt is still underway to find the Liverpool ECHO’s ‘People’s Penguin’; a specially commissioned penguin to be auctioned for the Liverpool Unites Charity. Over 500 designs from readers of the paper have so far been received, from as far away as Brazil and from those aged 3 to 95.
The Go Penguins event has been a huge success, with thousands of people braving the wintry weather to visit the trail. All penguins returned safely to the fold following the event with hardly a scratch – testament to the way in which Merseysider’s took them to their hearts. The event has also secured over £3 million in media coverage so far including the Paul O’Grady Show, The One Show, The Times, The Independent, the Shanghai Daily and the Times of India to name but a few.
Keep checking www.gopenguins.co.uk for further details about what’s happening in the run up to the auction because Merseyside’s penguin adventure is not over yet.
