In summer 2023, 60 elephant sculptures will be marching to Lichfield, Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield to celebrate 40 years of St Giles Hospice.
The free art trail will be a special event that promotes health and wellbeing, brings businesses and communities together and helps boost the regional economy.
For 10 weeks, March Of The Elephants will see a herd of intricately decorated elephant sculptures, each designed by local, regional and national artists.
Each sculpture is sponsored by a business or individual and has its own memories to make, many showcasing the community’s artists whilst celebrating culture and creativity that the region has to offer.
The trail’s first sculpture, ‘Keep Strong, Stay Positive’, was created by illustrator Michelle Turton. Watch her paint it here.
The aim of March Of The Elephants is to raise significant funding towards St Giles Hospice so that they can continue to provide their services for those who need them the most.
It will also showcase the vibrancy, creativity and community of the areas of Lichfield, Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield.
