The Big Hoot, Birmingham 2015
In the summer of 2015, 89 Big Hoot owls and 122 school owlets took to the streets of Birmingham to raise funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. The sculpture was based on the eagle owl that took up residence in Birmingham in 2008. After 10 weeks of drawing people to Birmingham to experience the art first hand and complete the trial, the owls were auctioned off and raised £530,830 for the charity partner.
The event went on to win the Best Live Event in the Birmingham Mail Brummies’ Choice Awards, the Birmingham What’s On Readers Award and was highly commended for Excellence in Contributing to the Community in the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards.
