The Haier Big Hoot, Auckland 2018
A parliament of owls celebrated the uniqueness of the region and showcased the wealth of artistic talent in Aotearoa. They flew into Auckland’s streets, parks and open spaces to form a colourful trail of sculptures for residents and visitors to discover.
Owls are icons of storytelling – well known to represent wisdom, migration, diversity, learning and intelligence – and each sculpture shared a unique and meaningful story from the New Zealand community. They ultimately raised significant funds for the vital work Child Cancer Foundation does to support children with cancer and their families when they need it most.
